🤔 effective changemaking snowball analogy

when trying to enact change in a community (or any complex system)
often one thinks to "identify the end goal, make a plan on how to get there, step by step" (A to Z) (current-state to ideal-state)
an alternative way to think is:
- identify the ideal-state
- understand the current-state as much as possible
- identify the highest-leverage short-term activity (effort:result) that nudges in the direction of the ideal state
  - ex. leverage those who are most likely to "buy what you're selling"
  - it's often ineffective (or very hard) to force a change onto a system that does not "want it"
  - "pick your battles"
- reanalyze, repeat

snowball analogy
- say you want to build a giant snowball and get it to certain place
- at some point, it grows large enough that you can't just force it to roll exactly in the direction you want
- you have to feel for which directions it's willing to go, and "settle" for the one that gets you closest to where you want to be
