over the last year, have been involved in two groups where "people of similar interests and willingness to work together come together and try to find something to work on"
but, both, it has resulted in a low action / commitment
i think it's b/c it leads to compromise ideas
(wanting to avoid "losing" someone from the group)
"by committee"
the alternative process is:
many individuals have strong ideas, try to attract supporters who agree (also strongly, b/c they have many different leaders to potentially follow, or start their own thing)
many ideas don't get enough actual support, so they languish
this "ecosystem / survival of the fittest" process seems to work better
