🤔 not so great men

- ~ great individuals (usually men), with outlier abilities, end up having a big influence on things
  - ie. "great men" create history
one could instead view it as: history "creates" great men
- ie. situations arise in which persons in certain circumstances are given influence (but the individuals themselves are not outliers)
  - ie. if "X" great man was swapped with "some random person" (but situations kept the same), they would make similar decisions
    - (of course, some outlier amount is to be expected, one-in-a-thousand, but, not one-in-100-billion as great-man-theory would suggest)
- ie. somebody had to be PM of UK in WW2...
