for someone being born, where they land in the lottery is luck
but for a parent, choosing to have a child, it is not a lottery, it is a choice
they are locking in many aspects of that lottery
is it "good"/"fair"/"ethical" for a parent to choose to "stick their child" with a difficult outcome (/ choosing a life of struggle / choosing a life of suffering)
should we evolve our ethics to make this an ethical consideration
ie. "blame" / "shame" / "ethically poo-poo" such parents
should we aim to help make child-birth as much of an educated choice as possible? (free access to birth control)
one the one hand, this would probably reduce suffering
on the other hand, this line of thinking is suggesting "{X disadvantaged group} shouldn't have children"
