iCult is a mockumentary I made in high school, treating Apple and their fans as a legitimate cult.
I don't remember what kicked off the project. Wrote a script with some friends. Roped in some others to act - including a few teachers.
Stylistically, iCult was heavily inspired by The Corporation). I think I had it rented and kept replaying it on the TV while editing - mostly to study how it was done.
Like Mary Ward for Dummies, it was edited at night on my sister's Powerbook.
One minor regret I have is not using J-Cuts (where the sound from the next scene, usually the next person, starts while the previous scene was still shown.)
For this video, I think I got about 10 units credited - so, more than half of a entire course - but split across multiple courses: English, Media Arts, and Religion. This was the primary perk of the gifted program at Mary Ward: the ability to propose alternative projects to satisfy course requirements.
I wasn't taking the Video course, but my Media Arts teacher submitted the video to the school's annual art show, where unsuspecting viewers were subject to its 17 minute run time (most other films were less than 5 minutes).
