🛠️ board portal

The Board Portal is a website I created for Next Canada to securely share documents with their board members.

It is pretty barebones: it offers a sidebar for notes and provides a directory of files, restricted to users with emails on an admin-controlled allow-list. Links to specific files can be shared. PDFs can be read directly on the site, or downloaded like other files.

The Director of Operations tried out an existing SaaS product for several months, but it was too complex for the staff and the board members. She came back to me and I created the portal.

All the content on the site is controlled by files in a Dropbox folder:

• the sidebar content is a special Markdown file
• the allow-list of emails is a special file
• other folders and files show up in the list on the site
